Job Title : Technical Buyer
Position Status  : Permanent 
Peromnes Grade   : P07 (R 1 123 719. 44 CTC Per Annum)
Location     : Pretoria, Head Office
Reporting Line       : Manager: Supply Chain Management
Overall Job Purpose : Sourcing and purchasing technical goods and services and ensuring quality and cost effectiveness in compliance with the prescribed Council for Geoscience policies and procedures.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for technical materials, equipment, and services that meet the company's specifications and requirement.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure the best possible prices.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure the best possible terms for the CGS.
  • Work closely with scientist and other internal teams to understand technical requirements and ensure that purchases align with project needs.
  • Ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards technical specifications.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, new products, and potential suppliers.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage procurement processes to maintain optimal stock levels without over-purchasing.
  • Ensure that suppliers are tax (SARS) compliant and any other Procurement compliance.
  • Ensure that all purchases comply with PPPFA.
  • Lead tasks or projects and monitor project execution and budget expenditure in line with deliverables and objectives.

 

Policy Development

 

  • Participate in the development and reviewing of SCM policies and procedures.
  • Assist Supply Chain Manager drive awareness campaigns of SCM policies within the CGS.

 

Project Management

 

  • Participate in initiatives, projects and activities in which the SCM team are engaged.
  • Assist in the execution of all project plan related to identify SCM interventions.

 

Quality Management

 

  • Manage data and keep records up to date relating to the acquisitioning of goods and services.
  • SCM data analytics.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Grade 12; and
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in Supply Chain Management of which five (5) years must have been at supervisory level.
  • Must have a good understanding of Supply Chain processes, systems and tools.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing and reviewing Supply Chain Management policies and procedures.
  • Computer literacy
