Overall Job Purpose            :

To provide proper controls and inventory management systems that will ensure effective, efficiency, economical and transparency of inventory items, ensuring accurate recording of inventory purchases and usage and promote inventory accuracy reporting and ensure optimal stock levels. 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage stores control and administration processes.
  • Develop stock count plans and ensure execution.    
  • Manage distribution of goods to respective business units.
  • Generate regular reports on stock items performance and usage trends.
  • Performing monthly reconciliation of inventory registers and the general ledger.     
  • Compile a detailed inventory register that is GRAP compliant.
  • Preparing Audit file for both internal and external auditors and makes available information, supporting documentation and proofs of approval guiding specific inventory recordings, movements, and/or allocations.
  • Manage and monitor reorder levels and replenishment of stock items.
  • Forecast stock needs based on historical data.
  • Manage and control the stores catalogue.
  • Manage the timely deliveries for all open orders. Liaise with suppliers and expedite delivery of goods for issued purchase orders.
  • Ensure storage areas meet health, safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure proper categorization of stores and stores neatly packed in sequence
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies or delivery issues.
  • Manage subordinates in the section:
  • Supervise performance and draft performance contracts.

   

 

KEY PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel etc.)

  • Good communication Skills
  • Sound logistics management skills.
  • Must have leadership or supervisory skills.
  • Understanding of PFMA, Treasury regulations, GRAP, IFRS and policies.
  • Understand integrated risk management processes.

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Grade 12; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Warehouse management or equivalent qualification.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Must have 3-5 years store management and control supervisory experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of IAS and GRAP standards for inventory management.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management/stores control computer systems or programs.
  • ERP system will be advantageous.
  • Computer literate.
