Overall Job Purpose             :

Responsible for the management, maintenance, optimisation, support of enterprise software applications to ensure they meet business requirements. The role includes managing and leading the configuration, customisation, integration and maintenance of applications.                       

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

SAP Applications:

  • Manage and support SAP modules (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, HCM, or others depending on the organisation).
  • Manage website, intranet and mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with business units to gather requirements and translate them into SAP solutions.
  • Perform system configuration, testing, and deployment of SAP enhancements and patches.
  • Coordinate with SAP Basis and ABAP teams for technical support and development.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP best practices and security standards.

 

Non-SAP Applications:

  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and support of non-SAP enterprise applications.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to manage application upgrades, integrations, and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools or platforms to improve business processes.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across systems.

 

Cross-Functional Responsibilities:

  • Configure, test, and deploy SAP and non-SAP application enhancements and changes.
  • Coordinate and manage application lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, integrations, and performance optimisation.
  • Lead or participate in application-related projects, including migrations, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Provide training and documentation for end-users and support teams.
  • Monitor application performance and proactively resolve issues.
  • Maintain application lifecycle documentation and change management records.
  • Work with business users to understand requirements and translate them into functional specifications and system solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, developers, infrastructure, and vendors.
  • Monitor application performance and ensure availability and data integrity across platforms.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, workflows, and user training materials.
  • Support integration between SAP and third-party systems using middleware or APIs.
  • Participate in audits, compliance, and security processes to ensure application integrity.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Grade 12; and
  • A minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Computer Science / Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • 10 years of experience supporting SAP systems and other enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP configuration and functional modules (S/4HANA).
  • Experience with non-SAP systems.
  • Understanding system integration, middleware (e.g., SAP PI/PO), and API management.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools and change management processes.
  • Project management experience or certification.
  • SAP Certification in any of the core modules.
  • Experience with cloud-based applications and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, SAP Cloud Platform).
