Overall Job Purpose :
Responsible for supporting system architecture and day to day operations by managing and maintaining the technical infrastructure of SAP Systems to ensure high availability, optimal performance, security and reliability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
System Administration
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SAP systems (S/4HANA, Success Factors, BW, PI/PO, Solution Manager) and related components.
- Manage SAP instances, clients, and landscapes across environments.
- Perform system copies, refreshes, and migrations.
- Maintain documentation for all Basis-related processes and system configurations.
Performance and Monitoring
- Monitor system performance and perform tuning to ensure optimal operation.
- Set up and manage SAP Early Watch Alerts and Solution Manager monitoring.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system errors, dumps, and performance issues.
- Manage and monitor SAP environments to ensure high availability and performance.
Security and Authorisations
- Configure, manage and maintain user administration, roles, and authorisations.
- Support audits, security assessments, and compliance initiatives.
Database and Backup Management
- Administer multiple databases.
- Schedule and monitor backups and recovery procedures.
- Implement and manage transport management systems (TMS), backup and recovery strategies, and system monitoring tools.
Upgrades and Patching
- Apply SAP support packages, kernel patches, and enhancement packs.
- Perform system copies, migrations, patching, kernel upgrades, and system refreshes.
Integration and Support
- Support integration with third-party systems and cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with functional and development teams for transport management and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve SAP technical issues.
- Perform routine health checks and apply SAP Notes as necessary.
- Stay up to date with SAP technologies and provide recommendations for improvements or upgrades.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12; and
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent.
- SAP Basis Certification.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of hands-on experience as an SAP Basis Consultant.
- Solid understanding of SAP architecture, including ABAP and Java stacks.
- Experience with SAP systems on different operating systems and databases (e.g., Linux, Windows, HANA, Oracle, MS SQL).
- Proficiency with SAP Solution Manager, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with SAP HANA administration, migrations, and upgrades.
- Knowledge of SAP Security and authorisation concepts.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
