Job Title : Application Administrator - Telecommunications

Overall, Job Purpose :
Responsible for the effective administration, configuration and maintenance of telecommunication applications and system. Ensures compliance with ICT and Security standards contributing to efficient and secure communications infrastructure within the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setting up and configuring new applications and software, including both internal and third-party systems.
- Continuously monitoring application performance, identifying potential issues, and ensuring system stability.
- Telecommunications specialists design, plan, and configure telecommunications systems and networks, integrating hardware, software, and protocols.
- Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to telecommunications systems and networks, providing technical support to users.
- Manage and monitor telecommunications networks, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Document telecommunications activities, including system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance schedules.
- Keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends in telecommunications.
- Responding to user requests, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions to keep applications running effectively.
- Optimising application performance through adjustments to settings, configurations, and potentially recommending hardware upgrades.
- Providing guidance and training to users on how to effectively utilise applications.
- Creating and maintaining documentation for applications, including user guides and technical documentation.
- Working with other IT teams, vendors, and users to ensure proper application integration and problem resolution.
- Ensuring applications are secure and compliant with organizational policies.
- Contributing to the planning and implementation of application upgrades and migrations.
- Keeping up with the latest versions of applications and technologies related to application administration.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12; and
- National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Computer Science / Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in application management and support.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong technical skills in areas like operating systems, networking, and server management.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of specific applications and platforms relevant to the organisation.
- ITIL experience.
